Oh Mary! is an uproariously dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires abound in this 80-minute one-act play that finally examines the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs. Lincoln, through the lens of an idiot (playwright Cole Escola).
Declared “one of the best comedies in years” by The New York Times, Oh, Mary! received Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor in a Play (Cole Escola) and Best Direction of a Play (Sam Pinkleton).
Following its critically acclaimed success and Olivier Award win for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play, Oh, Mary! has now extended through to 2027. Cole Escola returns to reprise their iconic original role for a strictly limited four-week engagement. They will be followed by Jinkx Monsoon, who also returns to the role of Mary for a six-week run from 17 August.
NOTE: Both performances on Tuesday, July 28 and July 30 will be filmed. This will be a special night for the company of Oh, Mary! and the experience will differ somewhat from a typical performance. Adjustments will be made to the show experience in order to capture the best filmed version of Oh Mary! We are excited to welcome you to the Trafalgar Theatre.
